AIRBNB ACOMODAÇÕES • AIRBNB ACCOMMODATIONS

Nesta minha chegada em LA, além da empresa alternativa para o aluguel de carro, escolhi também um sistema relativamente novo para definir minha acomodação para a primeira semana na cidade, o sistema do airbnb. Nunca havia usado o airbnb e decidi usar , claro, por casa do aspecto financeiro. Em que consiste? Basicamente é uma ferramenta disponível na web, um website, onde donos de imóveis dos mais diversos tipos (casas, apartamentos, quitinetes, quartos, mansões, etc) colocam seus imóveis à disposição para locação por períodos geralmente curtos (dias, semanas ou meses). Os imóveis são mobilhados e geralmente incluem diferentes tipos de conveniências como acesso à internet, aparelhos básica de uma residência (TV, geladeira, fogão, etc), serviço de limpeza, etc. Os valores são bem atraentes, se comparados a um hotel com conforto, localização e espaço semelhantes. Claro, não há o serviço de café da manhã, restaurante, etc, afinal você está alugando um imóvel. Existem opções com os valores mais variados em em diversas partes do mundo. A pesquisa é fácil, basta acessar o website, dizer a cidade, o período durante o qual você quer alugar e a quantidade de pessoas. O sistema encontrará todas as opções disponíveis e então você pode começar a selecionar por valor, localização e também analisando as fotos dos imóveis e o perfil de cada proprietário.

No meu caso, optei por um apartamento no coração de Hollywood, na North McCadden, entre a Sunset e a Hollywood Boulevard. Localização excelente pra quem quer conhecer aquela região, você faz tudo a pé. Entretanto, nem tudo são flores, tive um grande problema, não com o sistema do airbnb, mas com o anunciante do imóvel. Eu fiz minha reserva, cartão aprovado, tudo OK. No dia 09/set, como planejado, cheguei ao edifício onde fica o imóvel e ao conversar com o manager do prédio, uma espécie de síndico, qual não foi minha surpresa quando ele falou que não estava sabendo nada sobre minha reserva. Depois de mais de uma hora de ligações e conversas acabamos detectando o problema, o responsável pelo anúncio nunca encaminhou minha reserva para a administração, então o sistema airbnb confirmou automaticamente tudo como OK, mas na prática não estava. Resultado, meu apartamento estava reservado para outras pessoas. Diante da situação o Manager, Sr. Mark Soper, extremamente atencioso, encontrou a melhor solução possível, não o ideal, mas o melhor possível. Ficamos acomodados no apartamento que reservei na primeira noite, no dia seguinte não havia vaga então o Sr. Mark me acomodou em um hotel próximo. Então no dia seguinte retornei ao prédio, porém para outro apartamento, onde ficamos por duas noites e finalmente me mudei para outro apartamento dentro do mesmo prédio para as 3 últimas noites.

Nem preciso dizer o quanto isso me atrapalhou, pois não podía abrir as malas direito por causa das mudanças constantes, furou totalmente minha programação.

Conclusão, o airbnb é bacana, mas não deixe de entrar em contato direto com o anunciante e exija uma confirmação do mesmo, não apenas a confirmação automática do sistema, para certificar-se que tem alguém lá anotando seu pedido, e não apenas uma máquina.

ENG • In this LA arrival, besides the alternative rental car option, I also chose a fairly new system to set up my accommodations for the first week in the city, the airbnb system. I had never used airbnb and decided to use it, of course, because of the financial aspect. So, what is it? It is basically a tool available through the web, a website, where the owners of the most diverse property kinds (houses, apartments, studios, bedrooms, mansions, etc) offer their properties for usually short term rentals (days, weeks or months). The properties always have furniture and usually include different kinds of amenities like wi-fi access and the basic home appliances (TV, refrigerator, stove, etc), cleaning service, etc.

The prices are really attractive, if compared to a hotel with similar comfort, neighborhood and space. Of course, there is not room service, breakfast in the morning or a restaurant, you are renting a house/apartment after all. There are options for all pockets around the whole world.

The search is easy, just access the website, choose a city, define the period of your stay and how many people are staying together. The system will find all the available options and then you can select them by value, location and also analyzing each lessor profiles.

In my case, the option was an apartment in the heart of Hollywood, at North McCadden Dr, between the Sunset Blvd and the Hollywood Blvd. Perfect location for the ones that wish to know that neighborhood, you can do it all on foot. However, nothing seems to be perfect, I had a great problem, not with the airbnb system, but with the lessor of the property. I had made my reservations, my card had been approved, everything OK. In the Sept/9^th, as scheduled, I got to the building where the apartment is located and when I talked to the manager of the building, we were both surprised to know that there was no reservation at all

After half an hour making calls and talking to several people trying to figure out what had happened we got it, the lessor had never forwarded my reservations to the manager or to the system administrators, so the airbnb system confirmed my reservation automatically as OK, but it wasn't. The result of that was that the apartment was reserved for somebody else. Facing this situation the manager, Mr Mark Soper, in an extremely attentive way, found the best possible solution, not the ideal one, but the best he could find at that time. I was accommodated in the apartment I had originally made reservations for in the first night, in the day after Mark put us in an nearby hotel. Then in the day after that, I was back to the building, but in another studio, for two nights and finally moved to another studio in the building for the last three nights.

Needless to say how much my plans were messed up because of that, I couldn't even really open my bags because of the constant moving around, my agenda was totally ruined.

Conclusion, airbnb is nice, but never let the advertiser/lessor get away without getting in direct contact with him (phone or e-mail) and demand a specific confirmation of your reservation, not only the automatic one generated by the system, to be sure there's somebody there, and not only a machine.
